Port Covington Featured at Rep. Elijah Cummings’ Baltimore Job Fair

On April 3rd, Congressman Elijah Cummings hosted his 20th Annual Job Fair in Baltimore City at the Fifth Regiment Armory. Bringing together over 70 local employers, Rep. Cummings continued his long tradition of helping Baltimoreans find work. Throughout the day, workshops were held on a variety of topics, aimed at helping attendees learn how they can be more competitive in the job market. During the fair, Alicia Wilson, Sagamore Development’s Vice President of Community Affairs and Legal Advisor, was invited to discuss job opportunities resulting from the redevelopment of Port Covington. Alicia provided information on the size and scale of the development, as well as Sagamore Development’s commitment to help train a workforce that can support the project.

Launched in the fall of 2016, Kevin Plank’s Port Covington Manufacturing Bootcamp is a pre-apprenticeship program created to teach Baltimore-area residents a broad range of skills and offer exposure to building trades to better equip them to explore careers in manufacturing.

In 2016, Corps Logistics CEO, Jim Duffney, came to Sagamore Development company looking for a place to grow his business. Earlier that year, Corps Logistics had been awarded a contract with Baltimore City to manufacture electric bikes for the Baltimore Bike Share program.

The Baltimore Water Taxi is Expanding

Last summer, Sagamore Ventures acquired a 100 percent share of Harbor Boating, Inc., the company contracted to provide Water Taxi services to the residents and visitors of Baltimore. Because of the acquisition, the Baltimore Water Taxi can expand its operations including additional routes, extended commuter hours and an increase in the number of stops.
